Mental nerve
The terminal branch of the inferior alveolar nerve that emerges from the mental foramen.
Function
Sensation to the lower lip, chin and the labial gingiva of the anterior mandibular teeth.
Clinical relevance
Injury can cause numbness of the lower lip and chin. The path follows the Z-Anatomy atlas, fitted to this skull.
